FISHERS, Indiana — Fishers High School student-athlete Audrina Rager has always approached both academics and athletics with passion, discipline, and leadership — qualities that ultimately inspired her to launch Every Kid Plays, a registered Indiana 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization focused on helping children and families access youth sports equipment.
Built around the message “Play It Forward,” Every Kid Plays collects and redistributes gently used sports equipment to children and families in need throughout Indiana, helping reduce financial barriers that can prevent kids from participating in athletics.
Through years of involvement in youth sports and competitive athletics, Audrina recognized something happening within many communities: while countless families have quality sports equipment sitting unused after children outgrow, replace, or move on from a sport, many other families struggle with the rising costs associated with participation.
Rather than simply recognizing the issue, Audrina decided to create a solution.
“Sports have given me so much growing up — confidence, friendships, discipline, opportunities, and memories I’ll carry forever. I realized there are kids who want those same experiences but may not have access to the equipment they need. I wanted to create something that could genuinely help families in our community.”
Every Kid Plays accepts donations including:
- baseball and softball equipment
- cleats and athletic shoes
- football equipment
- lacrosse gear
- volleyball equipment
- hockey gear
- golf clubs and golf equipment
- tennis rackets
- track and field equipment
- athletic bags
- and other reusable youth athletic items
The organization’s mission is simple:
“Giving lightly used sports equipment a second life — and giving every kid the chance to play.”
Audrina developed the original concept and vision for the organization before bringing the idea to her mother, Tara Rager, a longtime community volunteer, corporate professional, and one of Audrina’s biggest supporters.
“I am incredibly proud of Audrina. Seeing her recognize the needs of others and take meaningful action at such a young age has been incredibly rewarding. This initiative came entirely from her heart. She wanted to create something positive that could help more kids experience the confidence, friendships, opportunities, and joy that sports provide.”
While Tara has helped support logistics, outreach, operational planning, and nonprofit development, she emphasizes that Every Kid Plays has always been driven by Audrina’s compassion, leadership, and vision for helping others.
The organization recently became an officially registered Indiana 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, allowing Every Kid Plays to expand community partnerships, accept tax-deductible donations, pursue sponsorship opportunities, and continue growing its impact across Indiana communities.
First Community Donation Drive
Community members are encouraged to donate clean, safe, gently used sports equipment. Monetary donations, sponsorships, and volunteers are also being accepted to support collection efforts, distribution events, outreach initiatives, and future expansion throughout Indiana.
